The NSS unit of our college formally inaugurated its activities for the academic year 2015-16 pm August 8th 2015 The Chief Guest for the function was Professor Khalida Nishat Parveen vice Principal and HOD of Sociology and Ex NSS Officer Abbas Khan College for Women.

Chief guest in her powerful message urged the students to take active role in NSS programmers for a better tomorrow and on their role in nation building , provided effective instructions and guidance to NSS volunteers to attain the goal of National Service Scheme, appreciated all NSS volunteers who have shown concern towards helping people, relived memories of her college days and said that Time Once Lost will never come back, when a chance is given do the best to the society for a better tomorrow. NSS Programmer officer Mrs. Nazeerunnisa outlined the various activities planned for the academic year and gave the detailed information about on the NSS motto “Not me but you”.

Empowering women to understand their rights to be independent in every area for their proper growth and development. Mrs. Ramya R’s a Research Scholar from Bangalore University talk focused on Women’s empowerment in India and highlighted the steps she believes are essential for India to move from rhetoric to reality in terms of gender equality and women’s rights and urged the students to dare the difference which means to take risks to step out of comfort zones and let the hope extinguish their fear and courage to conquer timidity and be independent in all aspects from mind, thought, rights and decisions.

Ultimately when women do well, society does better, She highlighted on how women have changed not only society in the past 50 years but also have changed their own roles in society. Despite all the challenges that still remain, Dr. Ramya ended her talk on a positive hopeful note.
